Blogger Spotlight Series: Meet Felicia from The Beauty and the Geek
Welcome to my new series: Blogger Spotlight where I profile my favourite beauty bloggers and get to know them, their blogging journey, fave products and advice for budding bloggers through a quick Q&A.
This week the blogger spotlight is shining brightly on a gorgeous girl who is way more than a pretty face! When she isn't blogging she works as a Forensic Scientist and is currently studying for her PhD to become a doctor (see I told you she was super smart!) You will recognise her beautiful aesthetic through her Instagram feed which features the latest beauty products and beautiful blooms, another passion she enjoys!
Say hello to Felicia from The Beauty and the Geek.
WHAT'S THE NAME OF YOUR BLOG AND IS THERE A STORY BEHIND THE NAME?
'The Beauty & the Geek' - I originally started my social media accounts under a different name but I felt like it wasn't a true reflection of who I was. I'm a Forensic Scientist, and addicted to the beauty industry. So I wanted something that would bring together both my love for science and my love for beauty. Hence the name 'The Beauty & the Geek' was born!
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING?
Just over a year now! I had my blogiversary just recently :)
WHAT DO YOU DO WHEN YOU'RE NOT BLOGGING?
I'm a Forensic Biologist and a lab rat! I'm currently completing my PhD studies to become a doctor in analysing degraded remains for forensic identification. I'm also fairly obsessed with flowers and love to tend to my rose garden on the weekends. I think of myself as somewhat culinary enthusiast too. I love creating gourmet meals and baking, the boyfriend has hit the jackpot he says, haha!
HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR BLOGGING CAREER TO DATE
All the events I've been to! There aren't many in Adelaide at all which is unfortunate, but it makes every one of them super special. I love the blogging community here, everyone has gentle and sweet souls and I love that we can get together in an environment where we share the love for what we do.

BLOGS YOU LOVE TO READ + FOLLOW
How to Girl - Such a true, real and refreshing blog to read. Her writing style has similarities to mine and I relate to her on so many levels. She has similar values to me when it comes to blogging as well.
Of course you. Your makeup looks on your blog are among some of my favourites around!
And a totally different area, but Sofija from Heavily Crazed such a dreamy and insightful blog. I adore her posts.
BLOGGERS YOU ADMIRE
Steph at How To Girl has to be mentioned. We've become great friends and I'm really glad I've met someone like her. Our friendship has been quite effortless and we can talk very honestly and openly which I respect in a blogger.
Laura from The Life of Laura. Man I thought I was organised! She always seems on top of things and has also become a good friend and the sweetest soul and is always there to give support
Shannon Gibb - she's very confident in her work and in herself but in a nice and subtle way. Says it like it is. I've many insightful conversations with her, she has a lot of knowledge!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE LOOKING TO BECOME A BEAUTY BLOGGER
Find your voice, it may be hard at first but have a real motivation to start your blog and always be true to your values and always remember why you started blogging. If you continuously compare yourself to other bloggers, you will lose sight of who you are and why you started it. The blogging world needs more 'uniqueness' and authenticity, and your readers will immediately recognize how honest and genuine you are if you write and present yourself with integrity.
And be kind to others. Learn to support one another, after all we are really in this together so we should be doing all that we can to raise each other up. It doesn't take any effort to be kind and supportive, and you'll catch more flies with honey than you will with vinegar!
