2016 Beauty "Resolutions"
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
2016 is officially here and with a New Year comes New Years "Resolutions".
Now I believe in the word "resolution" as much as I believe in the word "diet" - not at all. Every year I list resolutions and 9 times out of 10 they are broken by the third day into the new year. This might say more about my willpower than the resolution but I am sure we have all been guilty of breaking them at one stage or another.
That is why I like to refer to them as "lifestyle changes" and try to make them part of my everyday wellbeing.
So I thought I would share with you my top beauty “resolutions” for 2016. These aren’t going to be cosmetic based as you might expect but rather some things I would like to try and practice more in 2016 to feel beautiful inside and out!
I vow to drink more water. The minimum amount of water you should be drinking a day is 2 liters and I know I am guilty of not always having that much! Water not only hydrates the body inside but is great for clear, healthy skin! To help me stay on track during the day I have bought a 2L jug which I plan to fill with sliced cucumber and berry’s for added flavour and I plan to kick start my day with lemon and warm water to give myself a boost and remove any post Christmas toxins!
SLIP, SLOP, SLAP
Our bodies need Vitamin D and it is proven to help with overall wellbeing, bone maintenance and to reduce the risk of osteoporosis. I love me catching those rays but with my fair, pasty skin I am guaranteed to be lobster red in 0 to 100 unless I lather up in sunscreen. I want to start protecting my skin on the daily from the harsh UV rays as well reducing skin damage and sun spots by applying moisturiser and foundation that contain a high coverage SPF. Plus early ageing isn’t cute so anything I can do to eliminate that will be done!
I love nothing more than waking up in the morning and feeling well rested and refreshed! But I must admit I cannot remember the last time I felt like that, especially with the holiday season in full force and many late nights being had! So I want to make 7 - 9 hours of slumber a night a priority to increase my overall mood, energy levels and help me say goodbye to those dark rings around my eyes!
I LIKE TO MOVE IT, MOVE IT!
They say you should do at least 30 minutes of exercise a day and I am generally the first person to have an excuse as to why I should stay inside and watch Friends instead of hitting the pavement. Now I am not a gym junkie or big on sports so I just want to start adding a 30-45 minute brisk walk into my day. Plus with my new Nike Airs and the fab range of activewear from Gabdala I will look good and feel great!
