NEST Fine Fragrances Review

Marisa Robinson Makeup Artist NEST Fine Fragrances

Fine food, fine company and fine fragrances - what better way to spend a Wednesday evening! Last night I had the pleasure of attending the NEST Fine Fragrances launch to celebrate their upcoming arrival at Sephora Australia.

Not only was it a great opportunity to smell these beautiful fine fragrances, each with its own personality evoking a different mood, but it was a chance to meet founder Laura Slatkin and find out the story behind the brand and what has inspired her to create these award winning perfumes.

Each Eau De Parfum is beautifully packaged in a bottle or rollerball (ideal for travelling or keeping in your purse) adorned with floral artwork inspired by the works of Mary Delany (above), a british artist famous for her botanical collages, or “paper mosaics". The boxes and bottles have a gorgeous luxe look and feel and not only would look amazing displayed in your home but would make for amazing gifts.

Laura's passion for the brand and each fragrance is contagious. It was such a pleasure to meet her and hear first hand the inspiration behind each scent and how the brand has evolved since its debut in 2005 with home fragrances and how it has grown from strength to strength since their launch of fine fragrances in 2012.

I was lucky enough to get to try each scent and in this post I am going to share the fragrances arriving into Sephora Australia in November 2016 - just in time for Christmas - the notes which make up these beautiful perfumes, the moods they evoke, why Laura loves them and my thoughts.

DAHLIA & VINES

Notes:
Dewy Daffodils, Peony, Rose, Garden Vines.

Style:
Elegant. Classic. Romantic.

Why Laura loves Dahlia & Vines:
The peony is a very special flower to Laura and she was inspired by good friend Martha Stewart's beautiful peony garden. It's a scent she likes to wear to lunch with her girlfriends or to the office.

My thoughts:
This was my favourite scent from the range. It is a gorgeous girly scent which is very pretty and fresh.

CITRINE

Notes:
Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord, Precious Woods.

Style:
Bright. Refreshing. Sparkling.

Why Laura loves Citrine:
Laura describes Citrine as 'Happiness in a bottle' and a refreshing scent you spray on and feel happy. It is NEST's number 2 best seller!

My thoughts:
This is the perfect Summer scent! It has a crisp citrus smell which is light and definitely refreshing!

INDIGO

Notes:
Moroccan Tea, Kashmir Wood, Cardamom, Wild Fig.

Style:
Warm. Aromatic. Mysterious.

Why Laura loves Indigo:
Indigo is now NEST's number 1 scent and is an exotic and unusual fragrance inspired by Moroccan tea. The first smell is a rush of Italian lemons and bergamot followed by moroccan tea and praline.

My thoughts:
This is a very warm, sexy scent. I love the mysterious mood it evokes and it reminds me of dusk on a warm Summer evening.

PARADISE

Notes:
Mediterranean Blood Orange, White Ginger, Cedarwood, Watery Nuances.

Style:
Vibrant. Sparkling. Luminous.

Why Laura loves Paradise:
Paradise has a cult following and the scent transports you to a tropical island!

My thoughts:
When first applying Paradise it smelt a little too citrusy for my liking, but once it settled on my skin it had a gorgeous tropical scent which reminded me of sipping cocktails at Café Del Mar in Ibiza!

VERDE

Notes:
Wild fern, Himalayan Cedar, Verbena Leaves and Vetiver

Style:
Fresh

Why Laura loves Verde:
Laura found inspiration for Verde at the Dallas airport! She was in the airport book shop and spotted the book 'The Signature Of All Things' by Elizabeth Gilbert and fell in love with the pretty cover. This unisex fragrance is fresh and has a deep connection to the earth with its combination of ferns and moss.

My thoughts:
This is the freshest fragrance I have ever smelt! This for me is a perfect scent for everyday and makes me feel at one with nature.

Why Laura loves White Sandalwood:
A cozy and decadent scent with a key note of creamy almond.

Remember when applied fragrances are activated by body heat and smell differently on each person, so use the above as a guide but I would definitely recommend going in store to Sephora and trying them for yourself to find your perfect scent!

Thank you again to the team at One Daydream for having me and putting on such a beautiful showcase.

Which NEST scent is screaming your name and personality?
