Designer Brands Matte Velvet Foundation First Impressions

Designer Brands Matte Velvet Foundation

One of my all time favourite foundations I wear on the daily is the Designer Brands Luminous Foundation (you can check out my review here). The coverage, the formula and the finish is perfection. So when Designer Brands launched their new Matte Velvet Foundation I was excited to try it out.

In this post I am going to share my thoughts and first impressions on the Designer Brands Matte Velvet Foundation but before I do here is some info on the Matte Velvet Foundation direct from the Designer Brands website:
Achieve a perfectly matte base that looks like real skin, without dryness or a powdery finish with DB's Matte Velvet Foundation. The lightweight formula can be built to your desired level of coverage, from medium to flawlessly full coverage. Not just a pretty face, this foundation is also enriched with skin loving ingredients, Shea Butter, Aloe Vera, Vitamin C & E and a Peptide Infusion that plumps and firms the skin.

MY FIRST IMPRESSIONS

This foundation comes in the same rectangular glass bottle with black cap as the DB Luminous Foundation. It has a built-in pump action dispenser which I really like as it allows me to control how much product I use.

For this look I am wearing the shade Nude Beige which is perfect for when I am tanned but Light Sand will be my go to when I am not.

I applied the foundation using a damp beautyblender, dotting it onto my face and neck before blending it out. I found the formula blended really nicely and one layer achieved a medium coverage. I had done some prior concealing and colour correcting but you know I love a full coverage so I went in for a second layer on my checks, forehead and chin and it completely covered any problems areas for a nice even finish.

While I have been loving a more dewy finish of late I really like this formula and finish. It is matte but is not cakey and doesn't make my skin look dry unlike other matte foundations I have used. It creates a nice, smooth veil over the skin with enough coverage for my liking without having to set my foundation with additional setting powders. I wore this look for 4-5 hours and while it was a short time frame to gauge a long lasting finish, my foundation was still intact and looking fab!

This foundation, like the rest of the DB Cosmetics range, is cruelty free and vegan friendly, YAY! It also contains an SPF of 15 which is another bonus as skin safety is always essential.

For this look I am also wearing the new Designer Brands Precious Metal Lip Cream in 'Milky Way' which is a beautiful metallic liquid lipstick formula that is highly pigmented and not at all drying.

The Designer Brands Velvet Matte Foundation is available in 6 shades and retails for $16.99AUD which is amazing value, especially for a quality, everyday foundation! You can purchase it direct from the DB Cosmetics website or one of their stockists.

While I am not quite ready to give up the luminous life just yet, I can see this foundation being a favourite especially in the cooler months.

Have you tried the new Designer Brands Matte Velvet or Luminous Foundation? Which one is your fave?
