Marisa Robinson Beauty Blogger Frank Body Shimmer Scrub First Impressions and Review

I am addicted to magical iridescent, unicorn packaging and products so when I spotted the limited edition Frank Body Shimmer Scrub online at Mecca I had to have it! This body scrub is infused with fine glitter particles and promises to give your skin a subtle and luminous shimmer.

The video below is my live demo displaying the formula, packaging and finish of the Frank Body Shimmer Scrub.

Before I share my thoughts and first impressions here is some information straight from the Frank Body website:

My limited edition Shimmer Scrub will turn your weekdays into weekends. My sugary sweet scrub exfoliates, moisturises and leaves your skin with a subtle shimmer. For the days you feel like being a unicorn, or you - just shimmery.

Further information from the Mecca website:

Like all Frank Body Scrubs, it comes in two parts: the cardboard wallet and the waterproof zip-lock pouch which is shower friendly and doesn't disintegrate in water. Because the Shimmer Scrub is limited edition the wallet and pouch are an iridescent hologram style, which I had a lot of fun creating boomerangs with!

The original Frank Body Scrub is coffee based and the Shimmer Scrub contains some of the same ingredients and has the same coffee scent. I am not a coffee drinker and I don't particularly like the smell of coffee but I don't find this overpowering, strong or offensive.

The Shimmer scrub is the tough formula so you're going to get a complete body exfoliation. Even as I work it between my fingers I can feel the sand-like grains and the firmer you massage it into the body the rougher it feels, but in a good way leaving your skin feeling silky smooth!

In the photo below you can see the scrub consistency straight from the packet and then massaged onto the hands. You can see a luminous glow as you massage it onto your skin.

Step 1: Shed your clothes and get wet in the shower.
Step 2: Massage the shimmer scrub all over the body.
Step 3: Shower off with water only to keep your shimmer.
Step 4: Pat dry and shimmy out of the bathroom and into the day!

Like the OG scrub, the Shimmer Scrub definitely exfoliates and polishes the skin, leaving it feeling really soft and smooth. But the million dollar question is how shimmery is it? The description states it creates a 'subtle shimmer' and I would definitely agree with this. It is a VERY subtle shimmer. In the light you can see very fine glitter particles and while the skin looks a bit more luminous, it is not overly shimmery. My boyfriend was sitting half a meter away from me and when I asked him if he could see the shimmer he said no. I am all about that highlighter life so I was definitely hoping it would be a more intense shimmer, so for those kind of results I think I will stick to mixing illuminating drops into my body moisturiser.

While the shimmer wasn't as intense as I was hoping I will definitely continue to buy the range of Frank Body Scrubs as they are a great formula, make my skin feel amazing, are vegan friendly and are Australian made and I am a huge believer in supporting local businesses.

Have you tried this scrub? What did you think of it?
