Get The Look: Dark Romance
Gigi Hadid rocked a crimson red eye earlier this year on the Anna Sui Runway Show and I was obsessed! It is a gorgeous look which really makes the eyes pop and when teamed with a bold lip screams dark romance!
For this look I did my eye makeup first. That way if there was any shadow fall out I could easily wipe it off before applying my foundation and base. I used eyeshadows from the Anastasia Beverly Hills 'Modern Renaissance' Palette but feel free to use your favourite eyeshadows to create this look.
Prep the eyelids using 'Painterly' Pro Longwear Paint Pot by M.A.C Cosmetics to create a smooth base. To set the eyelid base dust a neutral matte eyeshadow (I used 'Tempera') over the entire lid. This will make it easier to blend the shadows and ensure the base isn't sticky.
With a blending brush apply a red shadow (I used 'Venetian Red') into and just above the crease to create a transition shade. Go back and forth in a fast, light handed motion to blend and create a transition shade.
Once done take a flat brush pick up a brown shadow (I used 'Cyprus Umber') and apply it onto the entire lid. Then take a clean fluffy blending brush and lightly brush over the top of the brown and red shadows to fuse together and soften any harsh lines.
For the lower lash line, take a small fluffy brush and apply the same red shadow to the entire lower lash line. Then take the same brown shadow on a small pencil brush and tight-line the lower lash line. To finish take a clean small blending brush and lightly brush over to blend the shades together.
Highlight the inner corner of the eye by applying a gold shimmer shadow (I used 'Primavera') on the tip of a pencil brush.
Line the inner waterline using the Marc Jacobs Black Gel Eyeliner Pencil.
rime the skin by applying the Too Faced Primed and Poreless Face Primer to the entire face to create a smooth base and to reduce any visible pores.
Once done, set under the eyes and face using the Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder.
Contour and add warmth to the face with the Kat Von D Shade and Light Contour Palette and add some subtle colour to the apples of the cheeks using the 'Surreal Glow' Blush from the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit Surreal Light Palette.
For this dark vampy lip I lined the lips using the NARS 'Belle Mare' Velvet Lip Liner and then applied Rimmel by Kate Lasting Finish Lipstick in '#053 Retro Red'.
