June Favourites

Marisa Robinson Makeup Artist June Favourites

With that Winter chill really setting in, skincare has been a really strong focus for me so my skin stays hydrated and healthy. So for June my favourites are an even split of makeup and skincare products I am loving and using on the daily!

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder
The Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder has been a favourite of mine for quite awhile now but you don't realise how much you love something until it is gone! I am patiently awaiting the delivery of her replacement so I can continue setting and baking with this perfect, lightweight powder.

Anastasia Beverly Hills 'That Glow' Glow Kit
I have actually had this highlighting palette since February and barely touched it - I know, the shame! But being winter I really need to faux that glow and I found that mixing the shades 'Bubbly' and 'Dripping in Gold' together on my fan brush creates the most gorgeous golden glow and makes my highlight shine to the heavens! Nobody is putting this baby back in the corner!

Jeffree Star 'Beauty Killer' Eyeshadow Palette
I. LOVE. THIS. PALETTE! I actually love everything I own from Jeffree Star Cosmetics but this palette is next level. I definitely have go to shades such as 'Courtney', 'China White' and 'Black Rainbow' but what I love about this palette, apart from the pigmentation and shadow pan sizes, is that it contains shades I wouldn't normally buy which is forcing me out of my comfort zone. I have created a couple of different looks with the other hues but I am excited to continue experimenting and pushing myself creatively and this palette will help me do just that!

it Cosmetics 'Hello Lashes' Mascara
I know you have heard me rave about the Too Faced 'Better Than Sex' Mascara being my holy grail (and it still is), but when I was standing in the 'Danger Zone' at Sephora (you know, the aisle that leads to the checkout with all the mini sized products which you throw in your basket because they are small, cute and affordable and they end up costing more than your full price items you went in to buy!) I spotted the it Cosmetics 'Hello Lashes' Mascara mini and thought I would give it a go. I'm not sure if I am sold on this mascara yet but what I do love about it is the 'Lash Ball Detailer' at the end of the wand. This is actually genius and when used vertically coats my bottom lashes and really allows me to get into the outer corner of my top lashes which sometimes get missed when using other mascara wands. It has also worked a treat after I have applied lashes, allowing me to fuse my natural lashes with my falsies seamlessly.

Mario Badescu Seaweed Cleansing Soap + Lotion
When I purchased the Mario Badescu Drying Lotion from Beauty Bay I got to select some free samples so I decided to give the Seaweed Cleansing Soap and Lotion a try and my skin has never felt better! If you can't tell I am a huge fan of trying sample sizes of products, it is a great opportunity to get to know the product and see how it works for your skin before investing in full size. I start by splashing some lukewarm water onto my face and then in small, circular motions work the Seaweed Cleansing Soap into my face and neck. It also contains soft bits of real seaweed to gently exfoliate and nourish the skin. Then I rinse off and pat my face and neck dry before going in with the Seaweed Cleansing Lotion which is a non-alcoholic toner containing Witch Hazel and Aloe Extract, perfect for sensitive skin. I pour a small amount onto a clean cotton pad and then as directed I wipe it over my face and neck in an outward motion. THIS is the time you get to see the real results as the cotton pad removes any dirt and grime from your face. I continue this step until the cotton pad comes up clean and then allow my face to air dry.

I am definitely going to invest in the full size versions of these products and give the Seaweed Night Cream a go. Plus they are all cruelty free which is a huge plus for me!

Clinique 'All About Eyes' Cream
As I get older I can definitely notice my skin changing and I am trying really hard to protect it and fight the signs of ageing, especially around my eyes, so I have been experimenting with different creams and serums. It was only a few weeks ago I was complaining to a girlfriend about how I wanted to get fillers under my eyes so they look less 'sunken' but since using the Clinique 'All About Eyes' Cream each night before bed I have noticed a huge difference! Not only is it soothing on application but the area under my eyes is now really soft and smooth and it has reduced the darkness too.

philosophy 'When Hope Is Not Enough' Omega 3-6-9 Replenishing Oil*
I am quite particular about facial oils (post coming on this soon!) and I don't like my skin feeling super oily after application. I know that sounds crazy and I am sure you're thinking 'what do you expect when you're applying oil to your face' but there are some oils that don't make my skin feel that way and this is one of them! I have incorporated this oil into my nightly skincare regimen and it has really given my skin life especially since it has been so cold and my skin was getting a little dry! After cleansing I put a few drops onto my fingertips and then press it into my face, adding a little more to the areas which need extra hydration. Maybe it is also the 'pressing' method but the oil absorbs deeply into my skin and by the morning my skin feels supple and clear!

Antipodes 'Joyful' Hand & Body Cream*
If you read my 'Believe The Hype' blog post you would have heard me rave about this hand and body cream and I am not about to stop now! It is honestly one of the nicest lotions I have ever used and the scent is divine! My hands are so soft and smooth since using this and what I love the most is that it is fast absorbing, quick drying and there is no oily residue!

ecoTools Makeup Brush Shampoo*
As explained in my Brush Cleaning + Care Guide, when I deep clean my makeup brushes I generally use a colourless shampoo, but since receiving the ecoTools Makeup Brush Shampoo I am hooked. Not only does it make my brushes as clean as new, but it is dermatologist tested, paraben free and made from natural ingredients which makes me happy knowing that my clients are getting their makeup applied with soft, clean brushes which have been washed with no nasties!
