Micellar Water Guide

Marisa Robinson Makeup Artist Believe The Hype Micellar Water

Micellar Water has revolutionised the way we remove makeup and has secured a permanent place in my personal and professional makeup kits. If you read my March favourites post you will have spotted the new Nivea 3 in 1 Sensitive Micellar Water and in this post I am going to share how I like to use this must have product and how it will change your life too!

I use Micellar Water to remove my makeup and cleanse my face on the daily. Simply decant some micellar water onto cotton pads and wipe over the face revealing makeup free, fresh skin. For a full face of makeup I will generally use 3-4 cotton pads, 2 for the face and 2 for my eyes.

I have never been a fan of oil based makeup remover, it might work but my eyes are always left stinging and sore afterwards. So when it comes to stubborn eye makeup and mascara Micellar Water is the gentle and guaranteed way to go! Decant some onto a cotton round and then hold it over your closed eye for a few seconds, allowing it to work its magic, and then wipe away.

To remove mascara off someone else's lashes, I follow the same step (decant micellar water onto a round cotton pad), fold it in half, place it under their bottom lash line and ask them to close their eyes. The lashes will sit perfectly on the moist cotton pad which you can hold in place with one hand while you use the other hand to wipe a micellar water soaked cotton tip over the lashes to remove the mascara. Once done, remove the cotton pad from under the eyes, fold it back the other way and wipe over the eye to remove any excess.

I think we can all agree that every day can't always be a perfect winged liner day. But I find a cotton tip with micellar water on it really helpful to create sharp, precise eye lines and tidy up or remove any unwanted makeup (e.g. remove lipstick without removing your base).

You can't put a price on this stuff but below are three different brands of Micellar Water I have used and loved which you can try too on any budget.
