Swatch Session: M.A.C Cosmetics x Nikkia Joy Lipstick Swatches + Review #MACXNIKKIAJOY
I love supporting home grown talent so when Australian Makeup Artist and Beauty Blogger Nikkia Joy collaborated with M.A.C Cosmetics to create her own signature lipstick shade I had to have it!
In this post I share my swatches and first impressions on this must-have, limited edition nude shade!
Before I share my thoughts here is some information straight from the M.A.C Cosmetics website:
Internationally adored beauty influencers indulge in the ultimate colour fantasy: creating their own M·A·C Lipstick shades! Nikkia Joy uses her real-world expertise to share indispensable advice as a YouTube beauty guru, helping subscribers do everything from finding the perfect foundation to flirting with full-colour artistry. Her warm nude Lipstick is as winning as Nikkia herself: sweet, a bit mischievous and unapologetically feminine.
A special-edition Lipstick in an unapologetically feminine warm nude shade and matte finish.
Below is a swatch of the #MACxNikkiaJoy lipstick (bottom) alongside a swatch of cult classic and one of my personal favourites, Velvet Teddy (top).
The swatches above have been taken under soft box lights with no colour correction or editing.
The Velvet Teddy swatch on top is described as a deep-tone beige while the Nikkia Joy lipstick swatch is described as a warm nude shade. In comparison Velvet Teddy is definitely a darker brown with a rosy tone but both are beautiful nude lipsticks which I find complement most skin tones.
While the swatches are helpful, definitely keep in mind that when applied to the lips the shades will differ depending on your natural lip colour. They will also be different based on how you prep your lips prior to application. For example, if you fill in your lips with a lip liner or if you cover your lips with foundation then the final lipstick colour achieved will be different compared to someone applying it directly onto their lips.
Both these lipsticks are the M.A.C Cosmetics matte lipstick formula and while it is a flat colour with little shine they definitely aren't drying, are super creamy and glide beautifully over the lips. I personally love this formula and find it wears beautifully with only 1-2 retouches through the day and that is generally after lunch/dinner.
The #MACxNikkiaJoy lipstick is special edition and available online and in store now for $36.
Given this is limited edition, I think I want to buy another one as a back up as I don't want to imagine a world without this shade!
Have you bought the #MACxNikkiaJoy lipstick? Do you love it as much as me?
