Marisa Robinson Beauty Blogger Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Review and First Impressions

This week I was lucky enough to receive some products from Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics, a range I was familiar with but hadn't had the pleasure of using so I was excited to try them out.

In this post I will share my first impressions after putting these beauties to the test. But before I do I am going to share some information about Youngblood and each of the products I received.

Youngblood is a US mineral cosmetics brand which embraces the casual yet stylish California lifestyle and effortless beauty, elements I definitely like to capture when I am creating natural makeup looks with that lit from within glow. Their luxury formulation contains natural active botanicals, is talc free and does not contain any ingredients that would irritate, clog pores or prevent the skin's natural beauty from shining through - perfect for those with sensitive skin. Not only are they conscious of the ingredients but they are eco-friendly and cruelty-free, two ticks in my book!

As you can see from my photos, the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics created a beautiful sun-kissed glow and a nice, natural makeup look. I applied a full face of makeup at 10am and wore it until 10pm with touch ups only to my lips after eating.

Below I share my thoughts on each products used to create this look:

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Liquid Mineral Foundation - Pebble (Cool)
As you can see in my before photo I get rosacea through my cheeks so this is an area I definitely like to cover and look for that coverage in a good foundation. My skin was a little dry so I prepped it with a natural facial oil before going in with the Youngblood Liquid Mineral Foundation by dotting it over my face with my finger and blending it out with a damp BeautyBlender - I did not set my face with any setting powders. I used the shade 'Pebble' which is a cool tone and matched my fair skin perfectly. It is a light weight formula, applies beautifully and creates a second skin you don't even know you're wearing. The coverage is quite good and it is buildable which I discovered by applying an additional layer over my cheeks to cover the rosacea. I like that it creates a nice natural look which isn't too heavy. By 10pm you can see the redness coming through a bit around my cheeks, but considering I had been wearing it for 12 hours without touch ups I think it wore well. I have a bit of shine as well but I think that is a combination of the facial oil used to prep the skin, natural oils, environmental (heating) and not setting my T-Zone with a powder.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad - Eternity
For my eyeshadow I used the Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Pressed Mineral Eyeshadow Quad in 'Eternity' which contains 4 blendable shadows in a combination of shimmer, matte and satin finishes. I love these shadows such much! They are buttery, pigmented shadows that blend so beautifully, can be packed on for a more intense look or smoked out for a more soft and natural look. The shades in the quad complement each other beautifully and blend together seamlessly. Here is how I liked to use each shade in this quad:

Top Left Shadow - 'Silken' Light Pink/Pearl
Applied to the brow bone and inner corner highlight. Creates a subtle sheen not too intense.

Top Right Shadow - 'Quartz' Pink
Applied through the crease and as the transition shade.

Bottom Left Shadow - 'Spice' Gold
Packed onto the lid with a flat brush, super pigmented and creates a gorgeous glow.

Bottom Right Shadow - 'Mink' Dark brown
Applied to the outer v and through the outer crease and lower lash line. Matte finish which blends out beautifully.

These shadows are extremely soft to the touch and you can feel their creamy formula immediately. Don't let the size of the pans fool you, they are super pigmented. My favourite shade would have to be 'Spice' which is the bottom left gold shadow that creates the most gorgeous glow over the eyelids.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Brow Artiste Kit - Dark
I have the quad in the shade 'dark' and at first glance I thought it might have been too warm for me but the centre shade is perfect! I applied the shadows using an angle brush to fill the brows and get precision for the tail. I used any excess product on the brush to lightly fill in the middle so it was blended and not too intense. To set my brows I used the included spoolie brush and lightly swept it through the pomade and combed it through my brows to hold any natural hairs in place. The result was beautifully sculpted but natural looking brows.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Illuminate Palette
This was the product I was most excited to try and it has exceeded ALL my expectations! The cream formula is light but packed with pigment so you are guaranteed to get a gorgeous glow. When I initially swatched each shade on my hand (below) they applied beautifully and while it was a cream they had an almost dry to touch finish, thanks to the oil-free formula. This palette is the perfect face palette with shades not only to add a highlight to the high points of the face but to add a flush of colour to the apples of the cheeks and a sun-kissed bronzed glow.

I used my finger tips to apply the cream shades and the heat from my fingers warms and melts the product seamlessly into my skin. I add some peach to the apples of the cheeks, bronze to the contour and lighter highlight to the tops of my cheekbones, brow bone, cupid's bow and bridge of my nose. I even tapped some of the pink onto my lips before applying my lipgloss for extra colour and shine.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Lipgloss - Champagne Ice
This is such a lovely lipgloss formula. As it promises it is not sticky at all and sits nicely on the lips adding a gorgeous sheen. This shade 'Champagne Ice' is a light nude with a subtle shimmer in it. The formula is also long lasting and nourishing on the lips. I only touched up my lipgloss twice and both times were after eating.

The first thing that comes to mind is why haven't I tried Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics sooner? I can instantly see and feel a noticeable difference in my skin and everything is so pigmented yet so light! This is the perfect range for creating that beautiful, healthy glow - ideal for everyday!

Next time I will definitely do some additional colour correcting and concealing on my cheeks to knock back the redness before going in with the foundation and I will also set my t-zone with a translucent powder to eliminate shine.

But overall I love the range, the finish and look it creates and being able to get that Cali-glow all year round!
